The commission calculus

Monitor the new build ratio. If the show floor tilts toward custom steel over semi-custom aluminium, it signals that buyers are committing to longer, more complex projects, a bet on holding the asset through a decade of regulatory change. Watch the brokerage flags on the stern. A surge in independent broker representation, rather than in-house shipyard teams, suggests a secondary market heating up beneath the new build glamour.
