Attendance and transaction volumes remain private, but the signal is structural: the Asian gallery circuit has fully rerouted post-Hong Kong, and Seoul is the anchor node.

The money in the room The buyer base this year tracked the blurb exactly. Chaebol family collections continued to acquire with institutional patience. K-entertainment wealth, now a mature asset class, moved through private viewing rooms rather than the main floor. The Asian gallery circuit, still recalibrating after the Hong Kong contraction, treated Seoul as its primary regional showroom. Private jet arrivals at Incheon confirmed the long-haul commitment from European and Middle Eastern collectors.

What the galleries showed Booths leaned into two lanes. The first was post-war Korean and Japanese abstraction, priced for the secondary market and aimed at generational buyers. The second was contemporary Western blue chips, positioned for the K-content cohort converting liquidity into cultural capital. Mid-career Southeast Asian work appeared as a bridge asset, priced below the blue chips but above the regional emerging tier.

The calendar signal Frieze Seoul now sits firmly in the early September window, creating a continuous art market corridor from the Hamptons and Aspen summer closes into the London October auctions. For the ultra-wealthy annual calendar, this fair is no longer a destination. It is infrastructure.
